EVO APAC is an Asia-Pacific tournament event, which offers as its grand prize a paid flight to the Evolution Championship series for the winner of the Super Street Fighter IV tournament.

Tournament Dates

EVO APAC will take place at UTS in Sydney, Australia on Saturday 29th – Sunday 30th May, 2010.

The venue will be open to EVO APAC attendees between 10am and 11pm each day.

Registration

EVO APAC caters for 2 types of participants: competitors and non-competitors.

  • Competitors are anybody entering one or more of the official EVO APAC tournaments, including players who have already qualified for the SSF4 – APAC Finals. All competitors must register online by Wednesday 26th of May. Nobody will be allowed to enter an official tournament if they have not registered online before the cut-off date.To register, simply visit the Registration page and use your credit card or Paypal account to pay your tournament and venue entry fees. If you don’t have direct access to a credit card or Paypal account, anyone that does can make the payment on your behalf. Be sure to print out your receipt and bring it with you to EVO APAC.
  • Non-competitors are anyone coming to EVO APAC with no intention of participating in any of the official EVO APAC tournaments. These people are not required to register online. Non-competitors will be charged a $10 venue entry fee when they arrive, and are entitled to (1) play casual games (including BYO), and (2) watch any of the tournament matches from the designated spectator areas.

Summary:

  • ALL competitors MUST register and pay for EVO APAC online via the Registration page. The EVO APAC venue entry fee is mandatory for all competitors.
  • Non-competitors cannot enter any of the official EVO APAC tournaments, but are allowed to play casual games and watch as much of the event as they wish. Non-competitors will be charged a $10 entry fee on arrival at EVO APAC, which covers entry for the entire weekend.

Venue Details

The venue for EVO APAC is the Gallery Function Centre at UTS in Sydney.

The Gallery is located on Level 6 of the “UTS Tower Building” (pictured below). To get to the Gallery, make your way to Broadway (see map below) which is a short walk from Cental Station and the Railway Square bus stop. Walk inside the foyer of the Tower Building, then take the lifts up to Level 6 and follow the signs.

Accommodation Tips

There are many places near UTS where people can stay during EVO APAC. Popular hostels include Maze Backpackers and YHA Australia.

Affordable hotel rooms can be booked via Wotif. As UTS is in the Sydney CBD, there are many hotels within walking distance. Be sure to check a map before you book!

Travel Tips

For people travelling to Sydney from interstate, flying can be the easiest way to get to and from Sydney. Discount interstate flights can often be obtained via Flight Centre, Virgin Blue and Jetstar.

Once you’re in Sydney, take a train to Central Station, or a bus to Railway Square. Both of these will put you in the UTS-region of the Sydney CBD. You can also take a taxi straight to your hotel if your budget allows it. If you need assistance on arrival, staff at Sydney airport will point you in the right direction if asked.
