Evolution

The Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short) represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. Evo events bring together the best of the best from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honour the competitive spirit in an open format and determine a champion.

You’ll also find that our tournaments are about more than just winning. Evo events are open to anyone, feature many stations available for relaxed free play, and offer unique opportunities to meet people from different countries and different walks of life who share your passion. Established champions face off against unknown newcomers, and new rivals that might have only talked or fought online meet up and become old friends.

For a taste of some of the competitive energy and fun at our events, check out the now famous Daigo full-parry video from Evolution 2004.

Evolution Asia-Pacific

The Evolution Asia-Pacific (EVO APAC) tournament is an international extentsion of the EVO Championship series, started by the tournament team from OzHadhou. Given the vast distance between the USA and the Asia-Pacific region, EVO APAC provides another opportunity for fighting game fans around the world to participate in the EVO experience.

In 2010, EVO APAC is awarding the winner of the Super Street Fighter IV tournament a paid flight to Las Vegas, USA to compete at EVO 2010. The event will also feature tournaments for other new fighting games, and provide ample opportunities to meet fellow players and get involved with casual matches.

What can you expect to see at EVO APAC? Here’s a sample tournament match from the Street Fighter IV Final 8 at OHN8, featuring Humanbomb from Sydney and ToXY from Melbourne.

The OzHadou team thanks EVO for the chance to bring a sample of this famous tournament series directly to the Asia-Pacific region.
